What the drivers said

A round-up of who said what after a great weekend in Valencia for Chevrolet.

Robert HUFF

"It was a very good weekend for me. Eighteen points for the championship! I could not have deamt of a better result. It has been hard in the last three years here, because I was always involved in a crash at the start of the first race. And to come back and win was obviously a pretty good result for me. In the first race. I had two hard races with a lot of oertaking, but my car was definitely the best one today."

Alain MENU

"It was a good weekend for Chevrolet. I started well from the qualifying, and the second race was fantastic. I am happy, because in Valencia I had always been good in qualifying but not in the races. From the moment I took the lead everything went great. Two race wins today were a great result for the team and I hope it will continue like this. I have to say that I built my victory in the first race, when I managed to overtake many other cars to recover from the back of the grid to the eighth position. I had not had such a tough race for long time."

Gabriele TARQUINI

"It was a good race for SEAT because we knew before this race that with the dry conditions, it would have been difficult to win here. Today Rob was too fast for everybody else on the track. His pace was much quicker. I tried to save and keep my position but it was very easy to make a mistake especially on the braking. I lost the apex on turn 5 and he went through. Then I tried to follow him, but he was too fast."

Jordi GENÉ

"I had the Start! Indeed it was very good. I knew that my set up needed me to push hard for the first few laps. The second part of the race was a nightmare and I was suffering a lot. Yvan was pushing me and his car was bigger and bigger in my mirrors. I could not take care of my front tyres, but I wanted to be on the podium so much because it's my home race."

Andy PRIAULX

"It was very difficult to achieve this third place today. My mirrors were full of cars. It was not an enjoyable situation. In the end I'm happy because I scored some good points and a podium for BMW. I knew that I had to be very careful and avoid mistakes; I had to be conservative and finish the first race in the points to have a chance to claim a good result in the second race. Now my biggest wish is to see BMW switching to the diesel engine!"

Stefano D'ASTE

"I am very happy, I did a good race. Fortunately for me Corthals and my team-mate Sergio (Hernández) went out on the first lap and so for me it was not so difficult. I had some problems to overtake Tielemans, as he was slower but closed every gap. When I was able to eventually overtake him, my car was very good and consistent. So I was in control."

Sergio HERNÁNDEZ

"I am so happy to claim my first victory here in Valencia, my home town. I hope this is just the first one of a long series. The team have worked really well and they gave me a winning car. I have to thank them for this."
