The 32-year old from Flensborg will drive the same BMW 320si - which is run by his team Poulsen Motorsport - that he uses for the Danish Touring Car Championship.

A former rally driver, Poulsen switched to racing at the beginning of the 2007 season and quickly established himself and his team in the national Touring Car championship.

Over the past season Poulsen has entered two BMW cars, for himself and former DTM ace Kurt Thiim, who has claimed two victories.

At the end of last year, Poulsen took part in the FIA European Touring Car Cup at Adria, achieving third place in the Super 2000 class.

For the current season, the team has also signed the reigning Danish champion and winner of the FIA European Cup Michel Nykjaer, former Danish champion Jesper Sylvest and former WTCC regular Emmet O'Brien.

Poulsen's participation in the Portuguese event, which runs from July 10-12, will help pave the way for the team's full commitment in next year's WTCC.

The team also plan to compete in two events following Portugal, at Brands Hatch and Oschersleben.
