The Races

The FIA WTCC is a world wide event, taking place in South America, Europe and Asia. On each racing Sunday two races take place - a special feature of this race series. The official start of each event is two half-hour practice sessions on the Saturday, and the highlight is the qualifying session on that same day, when positions for the first race are decided. The qualifying session lasts for 30 or 45 minutes depending on the circuit.

On race Sunday, the drivers get down to serious business after a 15 minute warm-up session. For the first race, the drivers line up on the starting grid in the order in which they completed their fastest lap in the qualifying session. After a short break, the drivers line up for the second race in the order in which they completed the first race. However, the order of the first eight drivers is now reversed, with the eighth driver from the first race starting first in the second race.
